Garret Hoitink

Garret J. Hoitink, 79, of Cedar Grove died on Sunday morning, November 3, 2013 at the Gables on the Pond in Random Lake where he had resided for the past year. Garret was born on February 17, 1934 in the Town of Lima, the son of the late Garret John and Henrietta (Prange) Hoitink. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1952 and then attended vocational school. Garret served in the US Army from 1953-55. On February 18, 1956 he married Joan DuMez in Cedar Grove. He worked as a tool and die maker for over 40 years retiring from Rostad Aluminum in Grafton in 1999. Garret was a lifelong member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Men's Society. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, bowling, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family at a cottage in St. Germain each summer. Garret is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan of Cedar Grove; two daughters, Laurie (Michael) Wensink of Eau Claire and Sandy (Dan) Zelm of Sheboygan; two sons, Terry (Kay) Hoitink of DePere and Randy (Amy) Hoitink of Omro; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Kara) Wensink and Chad (Helienna) Wensink, Paula (fiancé Tom Molosky) Zelm and Jenna Zelm, Aaron (Megan) Hoitink, Andrew (Megan) Hoitink, Holly Hoitink; two great grandchildren, Ruthie and Isaiah Wensink; three sisters, Evelyn VanWyk, LaVerne (Willard) Veldman, and Neva Walvort, all of Sheboygan Falls; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Hoitink and Ethel DuMez, both of Cedar Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother, John Garret Hoitink; and three brothers-in-law, Bill VanWyk, Walton Walvort and Carl DuMez. A funeral to celebrate Garret's life will take place at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 10:30 am with the Rev. Ronald Beabout officiating. Burial will take place at the Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Family and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Wednesday from 4-8 pm , and at church on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am.
