G. Dorothy Traas, 90, of Sheboygan Falls died on Saturday morning, March 3, 2012 at Pine Haven Residential Home where she had resided for the past six weeks. Dorothy was born on July 25, 1921, in Baldwin, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Willis and Jessie (Veenendaal) Bosman. Dorothy attended Sunnyside Grade School in St. Croix County and moved to Sheboygan County in 1936. She attended Waldo High School. On September 5, 1941, she married the late Walter J. Traas in Gibbsville. The couple lived in Sheboygan Falls all their married life, where she worked at the Anglo Am. Tanning Co. Later she and her husband, Walter, owned and operated Walter's Electric Service for 20 years and continued working there many years after selling the business to their son and daughter-in-law. She and her husband liked to travel before Walter became ill. Walter preceded Dorothy in death on November 29, 1991. Dorothy was a member of Bethany Reformed Church in Sheboygan, its Prime Timers, and Sara Circle where she served as president. While her family was young, she taught Bible class, Vacation Bible School, and was a sponsor for the young people's group. She enjoyed cooking and baking. The family favorites were her potato salad, tapioca pudding, and chocolate chip cookies. She did ceramics and loved to sew for her grandchildren. Her home was close to the high school athletic field where she enjoyed watching her grandsons play football. Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Luella (Lyle) Justinger, Lorraine (Robert) TenPas, both of Sheboygan Falls, Darlene (Russell) Remus, of Fond du Lac; one son, Ray (Janis) Traas of Plymouth; 10 grandchildren, Lorie (Ralph) Van Iten, Joel (special friend, Renee) Justinger, Nathan (Lori) Justinger, Aaron (Lynn) Justinger, Leigh (fiancé' Amy) TenPas, Mark (Sonia) TenPas, Daniel (Sara) TenPas, Melissa (Brad) Hofmeyer, Teresa (Jeremy) Boxrucker, and Tobin Traas; 22 great grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Bosman of Plymouth; and one sister-in-law, Ann Bosman of Sheboygan Falls. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Those who remember Dorothy know how proud she was of all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; parents, Willis and Jessie Bosman; parents-in-law, Cornelius and Hazel (Pietenpol) Traas; one sister, Rachel (Arnold) Huebschman, three brothers, Myron (Beatrice), Raymond, and Audley Bosman; one sister-in-law, Marian Bosman; and one brother-in-law, LeRoy (Doris) Traas. Funeral services to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at the Bethany Reformed Church in Sheboygan on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 1 pm with the Rev. Bruce Wilterdink officiating. Burial will take place at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Friends and family may call at Bethany Reformed Church on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of the service at 1 pm.
