Frederick Klaft

Frederick W. Klaft Jr., 78, a resident of Golden Living Center, 3129 Michigan Ave., Sheboygan, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Frederick was born July 21, 1930 in Sheboygan, the son of the late Frederick Sr. and Olga (Schmidt) Klaft. He was a 1948 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School and served in the US Navy in the Korean Conflict. On November 12, 1960 Frederick married Muriel Sackett at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on July 31, 1987. Frederick worked at the Palladium Bowling Lanes for many years and later was employed at Plastics Engineering before his retirement. Frederick was a life long member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he volunteered and served as usher and financial secretary for many years. He loved bowling, and golfing was his passion after his retirement. Frederick was a member of the Sheboygan Bowling Hall of Fame and bowled a perfect 300 game on January 12, 1967. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (David) Kanz of Sheboygan; one son Brian (Linda) Klaft; seven grandchildren, Jana (Timothy) Chase, Joshua Koren, Jessica and Jacob Kanz, Victoria, Jacob and Jackson Klaft; one great granddaughter, Norah Jean Chase; and a special friend, Joan Wellhoeffer of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel, his parents, two sisters, Dorothy Lutze, and Corinne Peterson and a long time friend, Jean Matzdorf. Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1121 Georgia Ave., Sheboygan, on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., with the Rev. Alan D. Kubow, officiating. Entombment will take place at Garden Terrace Mausoleum at Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, from 4:00 pm until the time of services at 7:00 pm.
