Francis Kretschmer

Francis M. Kretschmer, 93, of Sheboygan Falls went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday morning, Feb. 24, 2009 at Sunny Ridge Health & Rehab Center, where he resided for the past two weeks. Francis was born in Big Falls, WI on June 15, 1915, the son of the late Oscar and Anna (Brennenstuhl) Kretschmer. He attended grade school in the Merrill area. At age 12, he began working away from home on the Ritter Farm in Merrill. On October 1, 1938, he married the late Lila E. Litke in Merrill. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2000. From Merrill, they moved to Randolph, West Bend, Sheboygan, and finally Sheboygan Falls where they resided 52 years. Francis, was the founder of a window washing business, and was well-known for many years in the Sheboygan area as ‘the window washer'. Later, he worked at Schultz Sav-O until retirement in 1986. Francis was an active member at Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan where he served on the church council, ushered and assisted with numerous projects. He enjoyed gardening, dart ball, bowling, dancing, and playing cards as well as spending time with his family. He is survived by two daughters, Delores (Wayne) Peck of Oshkosh, and Janet (Harvey) Hoy of Grafton; one son, Dale (June) Kretschmer of Hayward; nine grandchildren, Keith (Tina) Peck, Brian Peck, Cheryl (Scott) Jerschele, Lisa (Karl) Krause, Julie Hoy, Andy Hoy, Angela (Kurt) Huizinga, Mark (Kim) Kretschmer, and Mike (Gail) Kretschmer; 13 great grandchildren; a half brother, Gerald (Dorothy) Kretschmer of Merrill; and a half sister Jean (Don) Becker, of Merrill. Francis was preceded in death by his wife, one sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan on Saturday, Feb. 28, ‘09. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Kuske officiating. Entombment will take place at a later date at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in the Town of Sheboygan. Memorials may be sent in his memory to Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, WI.
