Francis J. Buechler, 98, of N3170 E. County Road A, Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Friday afternoon, March 18, 2011 following a brief illness, at his home on the Buechler Homestead Farm near Six Corners in the Town of Lima in Sheboygan County. Francis was born on April 2, 1912 in the same room in which he died. He was the son of Michael and Rosalia (Stahl) Buechler. Francis graduated from St. George Catholic Grade School in the Town of Wilson. He married Luella Mae Pennell on September 6, 1947 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Francis was very proud of his heritage and ancestry as the fourth generation farmer on the homestead and lived the longest in the Buechler family history, reaching 2 weeks short of his 99th birthday. He was a dairy farmer living and working his entire life on the farm that was settled in 1847 by his great grandparents, Gottfried and Anna Mary (Hummel) Buechler who immigrated from Baden, Germany with their family. The farm passed to his grandparents, Theodore and Anna Sibilla (Nytes) Buechler and later to his parents before he purchased it in 1957. He received the Century and Sesquicentennial Farm Awards given at the Wisconsin State Fair. He milked cows until he was 70, raised heifers and steers, and later did cash cropping with his son, Donald. Francis was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls and formerly of St. George Catholic Church up until the time the parishes merged. His faith and attending Mass regularly was important to Francis. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. Francis and Luella enjoyed dancing and old time polka and waltz music. He was an avid reader, played sheepshead, and raised a huge garden each year. He and Luella enjoyed traveling and went on trips to Canada, Europe, Hawaii, California, and many other states. Francis purchased only one brand new vehicle in his lifetime; a 1937 Chevrolet which he still owns and runs. Because of his exceptional good health, up until last summer, he continued to drive tractor, mow lawn, and plant and harvest a large garden. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Luella; two daughters, Rita (Thomas) Dickfoss of Plymouth, and Rosalie (David) Klingbeil of Sheboygan; four sons, Daniel (Joyce) Buechler of Fredonia, David Buechler of Sheboygan Falls, Donald (Patricia) Buechler of Port Washington, and John Buechler of San Jose, California; eleven grandchildren, Patrick (fiancé' Megan) Buechler, Jennifer Buechler, Mark (Kim) Buechler, Michael (fiancé' Kim) Buechler, Chad (Felicia) Dickfoss, Wade Dickfoss, Joseph, Andrew, and Adeline Buechler, Carl and Ashley Klingbeil; two great grandsons, Brandon and Ethan Dickfoss; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Buechler of Sheboygan, and Bernice Pennell of Plymouth; and one brother-in-law, Ed Ott of Fort Myers, Florida. Francis is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Francis was preceded in death by three sisters, an infant, Rosalie Buechler, Eleanor (Joseph) Jacoby, and Adeline (Alvin) Drews; and three brothers, Thomas (Mary), Theodore (Anna Mae), and Michael (Harriet) Buechler.
