Frances Henrietta De Ruyter Frances De Ruyter, 88, formerly of Cedar Grove died early Saturday morning, December 16, 2006 at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls where she had resided for the past four years. Frances was born on August 18, 1918 in the Town of Lima, the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Hesselink) Back. She graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1936 and from Sheboygan County Normal School in 1938. She taught school at Maple Grove, Lakeview and Beaver Creek country schools for four years. Frances married the late Alfred M. De Ruyter on June 5, 1942 in the Town of Lima. She and her husband operated a successful dairy farm in the Town of Holland for many years. Together, they were active in many farming related associations. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1992. Frances was a charter member at Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where she was active in the choir, taught Sunday School and Bible Class, and participated in the Women's Guild. She was also active in the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau, Westside Homemakers and Master Farmers. Frances was an active volunteer at Cedar Grove Schools, Cedar Grove Library, Pine Haven Christian Home, and Campus Life. She was a 4-H leader and played accordion for the Cedar Grove Klompen Dansers. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking bread, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Laurence) Gregg of Racine, Lynn (Daniel) Fischer of Austin MN; four sons, Robert (Doris), Norman (Joanne), Lloyd (Carol) De Ruyter, all of Cedar Grove and Randall (Denise) De Ruyter of Mishicot; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Delores Back of Sheboygan Falls; nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Hazel (Irving) Rauwerdink, and one brother, Howard Back. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, December 21 at the Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Earl Slotman officiating. A family service will precede in the fellowship hall at 1:15 pm. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Wednesday from 4-8 pm, and on Thursday, at church, from noon until the time of service.
