Evelyn B. Hoegger, 79, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014. Evelyn was born on July 10, 1935, in Kingsford, MI, daughter of Edward and Pauline (Straulin) Gunkel. She graduated from Sheboygan Central in 1954. On December 12, 1955 she married William Hoegger in Dubuque, IA. Over the years Evelyn worked at HC Prange Co., Stardusk Outdoor Theater and Marcus Theater. Evelyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where she was active in the Senior Choir, a confirmation leader with Lori Wilson and in St. Paul's Friends. Evelyn was a Campfire Girls Leader for 40 years and was a lifetime member of the Sheboygan Theater. She was also active with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, AFS, Sheboygan Optimist Club and Sheboygan Hospice. The Sheboygan Falls Jaycees awarded Evelyn with Woman of the Year, for all of her hard work. Evelyn loved volunteering for many community organizations and singing in the church choir, it was extremely important and special to her to be able to praise God and to minister to others. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, shopping and was a die-hard Wisconsin Badger, Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan. Nothing was more important to her then being a wife, a mother, a grandmother and great grandmother. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, William; one son, Jeffrey (Julie) Hoegger of Woodruff, WI; one daughter, Jodine (Steve) Rodriguez of Colorado Springs, CO; her six grandchildren, Heidi (Daniel) Huszar, Mark ( Fiance Stephanie) Hoegger, Mallory ( Thomas) Gonzales, Julie (Fiance Austin) Hoegger, Kayla Konz and Samantha Konz; one great grandson, Logan LeFors; one sister, Shirley (James) Lee; two sisters-in-law, Anita Knaub and Jane Busch; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Hoegger and Norman (Karen) Hoegger; a very special friend and neighbor, Terri (Ron) Behlow; their foreign exchange student, William Doggart of Bangor Northern Ireland. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Alfred (Mary) Gunkel; two brothers-in-law, Lee Knaub and Elroy Busch. A funeral service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Burial will take place in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 4-7pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls and again on Wednesday at the CHURCH from 9am until the time of service at 10am. A memorial fund has been established in Evelyn's name for St. Paul's Friends.
