Eunice Simmelink

Eunice Simmelink, 101, of Oostburg died on Wednesday morning, December 14, 2011 at the Cedar Grove Gardens where she had resided the past two years. Eunice was born on February 11, 1910 in the Town of Holland, the daughter of the late Jacob and Josephine (Verhulst) LeMahieu. She attended Oostburg High School. On April 20, 1933 she married Albert Simmelink in the Town of Wilson. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1984. Eunice was a teller at the Oostburg State Bank for 25 years prior to her retirement in 1975. Eunice was the oldest living member at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg and a member of the Ladies Mission Circle and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Oostburg Homemakers, and the Senior Citizens. Eunice enjoyed crocheting, tatting and weaving. Eunice is survived by her son, Gerald (Barbara) Simmelink of West Bend; four grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Brandt, Jeff (Lisa) Simmelink, Paul Simmelink and Jodi (Lillion) Weatherby; eight great grandchildren, Cody, Brandon, Peyton, Lexi, Lillion, Charlie, Danielle, and Emily; and one sister-in-law, Eleanor LeMahieu of Oostburg. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, Antoinette (Earl) DeMaster; and two brothers, Raymond and Howard (Evelyn) LeMahieu. Funeral services to celebrate Eunice's life will be held on Friday afternoon, December 16, 2011 at 2 pm at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends will gather at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg on Friday from 1-2 pm.
