Eugenia Bespalow

Eugenia Bespalow, 92, of 855 Michigan Ave, Oostburg died on Monday morning, April 4, 2011 at Pine Haven Christian Home where she had resided for the past two weeks. Eugenia was born on January 6, 1919 in Odessa, Ukraine, the daughter of Konstantin and Praskeva (Mostova) Grintchuk. She attended local schools in Odessa. She married the late Gregory Bespalow in July 1952 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1990. Eugenia was a seamstress for over 45 years at various sewing shops in New Jersey. Eugenia was a faithful and active member of St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Church in Howell, New Jersey. She was caretaker for many elderly neighbors and friends. She enjoyed the opera, spending time at the ocean, trips to New York City and Atlantic City, and going shopping. She is survived by her sister, Tanya (Jack) Verhelst of Oostburg; a niece, Natalie (Michael) Prinsen of Cedar Grove; a nephew, Jim (Kelly) Verhelst of Oostburg; and great nieces and nephews. Eugenia was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory; an infant sister, Nina Grintchuk; and a brother, Alexander Grintchuk. Funeral services will be held at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11 am with the Rev. Brian Jacobson officiating. Burial will take place at the Hartman Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am.
