Eugene H. Teunissen, 89, of Cedar Grove, went to be with the lord on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls. Eugene was born on March 10, 1920 in the Town of Holland. He is the son of the late Henry and Gertrude (Prinsen) Teunissen. He attended Maple Grove School and Cedar Grove Academy. On January 7, 1950 he was united in marriage to Virginia TeStroete of Cedar Grove. Virginia preceded him in death in 1988. Eugene was a life long dairy farmer and business owner in the Town of Holland. His love for agriculture was demonstrated during his business years of farming, trucking, and his influential impact to agriculture programs locally and internationally with Netherlands. He also served many years on local and national agriculture boards and committees holding many positions, notably 20 years on the Milk Marketing Board and the Wisconsin Dairy Council. In his retirement Eugene had a love for fishing on Lake Michigan and enjoyed gardening, traveling, and playing cards. He and his wife would enjoy their winter months visiting family in Florida and Europe. He was also a charter member of the Amsterdam Lions. Eugene was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church of Cedar Grove. He is survived by their four daughters, Jacalyn (Paul) Heunink, Pamela (Gary) TenHaken, Victoria (Kenneth) Haanppaa, Bonnie (William) Depies; five sons, Roy (Gloria) Teunissen, Don (Luann) Teunissen, Clifford (Barb) Teunissen, Henry Teunissen, David Teunissen; 28 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; three sister-in-laws, Gloria TeStroete, Beatrice TeStroete, and Carol Amberg. Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Bernice (Pete) Van Stelle and Dolores Teunissen, two brothers, Anthony Teunissen and Earl Teunissen. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 10:30 am at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Kent Vant Hul officiating. Burial will take place in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday, October 5, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Eugene's name for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center. The family wishes to thank Dr. Matthews and the staff at the Sharon S.
