Eugene P. Damkot, 63, of PO Box 113, 120 Wisconsin Ave, Cedar Grove died at his home on Thursday evening, September 18, 2008 with his family at his side. Eugene was born on November 19, 1944 in the Town of Lima, the son of the late Harold and Evelyn (Jensema) Damkot. He was a 1962 graduate of Oostburg High School and earned a BS degree in secondary education from UW- Stevens Point. On August 14, 1965, he married the former Linda Ackermann in Cedar Grove. For 15 years Eugene was employed with the US Postal Service as a rural carrier. He retired in 2007. He also coached and taught History and Geography at Rosendale and Random Lake Middle and High Schools from 1967 -1984 and also worked part time at the Canning Factory in Cedar Grove. He is a member of Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, served on the Cedar Grove Village Board and was member of the Jaycees. He enjoyed gardening, Badger football and sheepshead. Eugene is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Kari (Luis) Morales of Cedar Grove and Lori (Jesse) Frutig of Denmark, two sons, Eric (Mary) Damkot of West Bend and Jon Damkot of Cedar Grove, 14 grandchildren, Nikilette, Joshua, Sarah, David, Josie, Jonah, Jeremiah and Elijah Morales, Lucas, William and Nathan Frutig and Mark, Madeline and Owen Damkot, 2 sisters, Karen (Wayne) Lammers of Oostburg and Mary (Steve) Olsen of Denmark, 2 brothers Robert (Marilyn) Damkot and Gerald (Julie) Damkot all of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral Service will be held for Eugene on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 1:30 PM at Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with the Reverend Earl Slotman officiating. Burial will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Sunday, September 21, 2008, from 2-6 PM and on Monday, at the church, from 12 noon until the time of the service at 1:30 PM. A memorial fund has been established in his name for the Faith Reformed Building Fund and Sheboygan County Relay for Life.
