Eugene G. Buhler, 85, of Oostburg died at his home early Tuesday morning, October 7, 2014. Eugene was born on November 28, 1928 in the Town of Lyndon, the son of the late Henry and Edna (TerMaat) Buhler. Eugene attended school at Five Corners. He married Helen Keller on August 28, 1948 in the Town of Wilson. Eugene served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-53. He was a supervisor at Reliance Construction for many years and retired from Northeast Asphalt in 1990. Eugene was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in the Town of Lima. He enjoyed car mechanics, cutting grass, travel, dancing, polka and waltz music, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and watching the Green Bay Packers. Eugene is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen, of Oostburg; one daughter, Jean (Lawrence) Nysse of Plymouth, two sons, Gary (Kristin) Buhler of Plymouth and Curt (Dawn) Buhler of Sheboygan Falls; five grandchildren, Nathen (Jill) Nysse, Matthew (Nicole) Nysse, Mitchell, Michael and Maria Buhler; three great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Buhler of Plymouth and Lila Gottsacker of Sheboygan; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Sherry) Keller of Wyoming and Floyd Wallo of Howards Grove; nieces and nephews. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Willard (Charlotte) Buhler and Robert Buhler. A funeral to celebrate Eugene's life will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2 pm with the Rev. Frederick Jabs officiating. Burial and Military Honors will follow at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in the Town of Sheboygan. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Saturday from 11 am until the time of the service at 2 pm.
