Ernest Dietrich

Ernest R. "Ernie" Dietrich, 86, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013, at his home. Ernest was born on September 6, 1926, in Humboldt, SD, son of Carl and Katherine (Blocker) Dietrich. He was a 1944 graduate of Rockford High School, in MN and attended Minnesota School of Business for two years. On May 12, 1956, he married Delores Rinehart in Milwaukee. Ernest was employed in industrial sales for American Supply Co. in Gary, IN for 22 years until his retirement in 1991. During his retirement years he worked at Blackwolf Run for 15 years. Ernest was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove. He was a Pine Haven Representative and member of the American Legion Post #338. Ernest enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, reading, scrabble, gardening and traveling. Ernest is survived by his wife of 56 years, Delores; two daughters, Catherine (David) Hartwig, and Becky (Brian) Sueppel, both of Grafton; four grandchildren, Maddie (Riley) Falk, Karen Sueppel and Rachel and Ryan Hartwig; his brother, Kermit Dietrich of Waconia, MN; one sister-in-law, Violet Rinehart of Oostburg; and one brother-in-law, Jack (Virginia) Rinehart of Oostburg. Ernest is also survived by nieces, nephew, and cousins. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Betty Dietrich. Funeral services to celebrate Ernest's life will be held at 6 pm on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with Rev. Justin Sembler officiating. Military Honors will follow. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-6 pm.
