Elmer Specht

Elmer "Shorty" Specht, 87 of Plymouth, died Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility. Elmer was born on August 4, 1921 in Sheboygan, son of the late Theodore and Claire (Dreps) Specht. On September 19, 1950 he married Irene H. Henry in Plymouth. Irene preceded him in death on May 9, 1991. Elmer was the owner of Specht's Motel for 30 years and later worked as a custodian for Borden's for 15 years. Elmer was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church on Plymouth. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Plymouth and enjoyed woodworking, card playing, TV, and a good cigar. Survivors include three daughters, Charmaine (Glenn Goddard) Pachniak of Sheboygan, Charlene (Don) Drum of Milwaukee, and Charlotte Jensema of Plymouth; two brother-in-laws, Robert Walsh of Sheboygan Falls and Roger (Bonnie) Henry of Illinois; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; two brothers, Orville Specht and Harold Specht; one granddaughter, Vanessa Jensema, and son-in-law, Rick Jensema. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 6:00 pm at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Tom Burton officiating. Burial will take place at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery on Tuesday. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 4:00 pm until the time of the 6:00 pm service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Elmer's name for Project Angel Hugs and the Veterans History Project in c/o the Naval Museum.
