Elmer Kaas

Elmer F. Kaas, 79, of 204 Spring Street, Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Thursday evening, August 23, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Elmer was born on March 24, 1933, in Bakerville, WI, son of Roman and Laura (Diers) Kaas. He attended Marshfield area schools. Elmer served in the US Navy from 1952-1956. On April 30, 1967 he married Shirley Daniels in Sheboygan. Elmer was employed as a foreman with Kohler Company for 43 years until his retirement in 1998. Elmer was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls. He was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club, Waldo Lions, and the Waldo Fire Department. He enjoyed family times, traveling, hunting, fishing trips to Canada, gardening, and fix-it projects. Elmer will always be remembered for lending a helping hand to others. Elmer is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shirley; two daughters, Brenda (Rick) Knoebel of Sheboygan and Kim (Rick) Johns of Waukesha; one son, Brian (Sarah) Kaas of Pewaukee; seven grandchildren, Sandra Vick, Brian (Alissa) Knoebel, Shaun Knoebel, Meghan and Jenna Johns, Arianna and Peyton Kaas; three sisters, Genevieve Kolstad of Marshfield, Marion (Glen) Hartnett of Marshfield, and Laura Mae (Jerry) Niehaus of Stratford; and one sister-in-law, Linda Kaas of Tuscon, AZ. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; foster parents, Joe and Genevieve Becker; sister, Josephine (Bugs) Johnson; and three brothers, Clarence (Betty) Kaas, Jerome Kaas, and infant Norman Kaas. Funeral services to celebrate Elmer's life will be held at 5 pm on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with Chaplain Marianne Schmidt officiating. Military honors will follow the service. Private entombment will take place in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum on Monday. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 pm until the time of the service at 5 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Elmer's name for the Sheboygan Falls American Legion and the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund.
