Elizabeth "Betty" J. Schreurs, 87, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. Betty was born on February 2, 1923 in the Town of Holland, the daughter of Jan Hendrik and Hattie (Wilterdink) Harmelink. Betty graduated from the Wisconsin Memorial Academy in Cedar Grove and the Sheboygan County Normal School. Betty was a teacher at the Green School in the Town of Holland for several years. On February 2, 1945 she married John H. Schreurs in Cedar Grove. John preceded her in death on January 11, 1996. Betty was a charter member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Missionary Society and Bible League. Betty was a Bible Class and Sunday School teacher. She and her husband were members of the Old Timers Pony Club. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, cooking, baking, gardening, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty is survived by two daughters, Diane Schreurs and Cindy Kleckner, both of Cedar Grove; two sons, Jack (Kathy) Schreurs of Sheldon, IA and Roy (Juli) Schreurs of Cedar Grove; 13 grandchildren, Sara Kleckner and Dean Kleckner, Leah (Todd) Zuidema, Micah (Shannon) Schreurs, John (Jessica) Schreurs, Joel (Jill) Schreurs, Stephanie (Jeff) Huenink, Tammy (Ryan) Roerdink, Jennifer (Telly) Nice, Jessica (Kevin) Claerbaut, Paul (Lindsey) Schreurs, Kassandra (Derek) Seefeldt, and Allison Schreurs; 21 great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Theune of Pine Haven Christian Home; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Harmelink of Pine Haven Christian Home and Bernice Harmelink of Oostburg. Betty is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John, two sisters, Mable (Fred) Senk and Joyce (Alfred) Zalzwedel; seven brothers, Garrit (Margaret), John, Herman (Eleanor), Willard (Elda), Harry (Dorothea), Donald and Harold Harmelink. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 10 am at Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Ronald Beabout officiating. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, and also at the church on Wednesday from 9 am until the time of the service at 10 am.
