Elizabeth Grace “Betty” Kuplic, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at her home in Sheboygan Falls with her husband by her side.
Betty was born March 16, 1939 in Sheboygan, daughter of Dr. Horace J. and Elizabeth “Libby” (Huibregtse) Hansen. She grew up in Sheboygan Falls, graduating from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1957. She went on to earn her Bachelors from UW-Madison in 1961, and teach Social Studies and English until the mid 1960’s.
On August 11, 1962 she was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart, Dr. James B. Kuplic at First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls. The couple created countless memories while traveling, raising their family and serving their community.
A lifelong member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, Betty was a Sunday school teacher and helped coordinate funeral luncheons. She served on the Sheboygan Falls School Board for 12 years and was involved with Maywood Environmental Park, The League of Women Voters and many other causes she felt passionate about. A natural leader, she taught water aquatics and instructed Red Cross classes. A Master Gardener and member of the Town and Country Garden Club, Betty showed a deep passion for her flowers and plants, demonstrating meticulous attention and exceptional care to everything she planted. In addition to being incredibly kind, generous and patient, she spent endless hours devoted to her children and grandchildren’s concerts and sporting events, as well as being a host family to several special AFS students.
Betty is survived by her husband James and their sons: Dr. J. David (Tricia) of Appleton, Peter J. (Ellen) of Batavia, IL, Paul D. (Nicole) of Sheboygan Falls and Thomas B. (Emily Dickmann) Kuplic of Madison; 9 grandchildren: Drew (Leah), Will, Jack, Ryan, Max, Addison, Gabrielle, Tessa and Oscar; sisters Susan (Charles) Pehlivanian of Racine and Christine of Sheboygan Falls; brother Dr. John (Paula) Hansen of Rochester, NY; sisters-in-law Nancy A. (Donald) Gehrke of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and Mary Katherine (Quinten) Carman of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law Bradley T. (Jana) Kuplic of Czech Republic; Laurie A. Kuplic of Sheboygan Falls; other extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Alexandra Grace Kuplic and sister-in-law Linda (Dr. Brian) Moore
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 4, 2025 at First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls with Pastor Brad Veenendaal officiating. All are welcome to view a livestream of the service on Betty’s obituary page at www.wenigfh.com . The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 9:00AM-12:00noon.
Betty will be laid to rest at Greenbush Cemetery beside her Hansen grandparents.
Memorials are suggested to Maywood Environmental Park, Town and Country Garden Club or First Reformed Church of Sheboygan Falls.
