Elfie J. DeZwarte, 98, of Sheboygan Falls and formerly of Oostburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Pine Haven Christian Home. Elfie was born on December 5, 1915, in the Town of Holland, daughter of George and Nellie (Lammers) Bruggink. She was a 1933 graduate of Oostburg High School. On September 12, 1936, she married Howard DeZwarte in Waukegan, IL. Howard preceded her in death on March 13, 1996. Elfie was employed with Musebeck Shoe Factory and Hingham Cheese Factory. Elfie was a member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg, where she was a member of Young at Heart, the Missionary Society, and the Senior Center. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, playing cards, singing, traveling, and farming. Elfie is survived by her two daughters, Loretta Eisenhardt of Sheboygan Falls and Sandra (Ronald) Stolper of Adell; six grandchildren, Jodi (David) Ottensman, Jan (John) Shorer, James (Dawn) Eisenhardt, Deborah (James) Wilke, Michelle (David) Hughes, and Rebecca (Scott) Goodwin;12 great-grandchildren, Dayton, Lucas, Megan, Caleb, Robert, Hunter, Connor, Dawson, Blaire, Kina, Kiyu, and Coda. Elfie is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Elfie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Howard, her son-in-law, Robert Eisenhardt, her infant son, three brothers, and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral services to celebrate Elfie's life will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 30, 2014, at First Reformed Church in Oostburg with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 3:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Elfie's name. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Pine Haven Christian Home for all their care and compassion over the years.
