Elda Kalk

Elda I. Kalk, 90, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2011 at Pine Haven Christian Home. Elda was born on January 27, 1921 in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, daughter of Gustav and Ida (Miller) Widder. She attended Sheboygan Falls area schools. Elda married Melvin T. Kalk on October 10, 1942 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. Melvin preceded her in death on December 14, 2002. Elda was employed with Falls Woolen Mills and Pine Haven Christian Home for several years. Elda was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary and was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, gardening, canning, crafts, needlework, dancing, and traveling. Elda is survived by; two sons, Ronald (Betty) Kalk and Michael Kalk, both of Sheboygan Falls; one daughter, Eileen (Arlyn) Wessel of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Missy (Andrew) Selk, Arika (Matthew) Bertucci, Christopher (Robin) Kalk, and Susan Wessel; three triplet great-grandchildren, Ryan, Masee and Carter Selk; three sisters, Irma (Wesley) Prange of Sheboygan Falls, Violet Ter Maat of Sheboygan Falls and Mary (William) Pohland of Germantown; one brother, Leonard (Geraldine) Widder of Sheboygan Falls; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Widder of Sheboygan and Margaret Widder of Sheboygan Falls. Elda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; her son, Timothy Kalk; two sisters, Norma (Delbert) Klemme and Adeline (Donald) Lorenz; three brothers, Roland (Clara), Willard and Frederick Widder; and a brother-in-law, George Ter Maat. Funeral services to celebrate Elda's life will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, November 28, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Burial will take place in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Elda's name for The Gathering Place at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
