Elaine M. Denzin, 75, of Sheboygan Falls died at her home with her family at her side on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 following a brief illness. Elaine was born on May 21, 1938 in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Leonard and Helen (Kallas) Kalupa. She graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1956. On September 20, 1958 she married James P. Denzin in Sheboygan Falls. Elaine worked at Curt Joa Co. for several years and as a waitress at Cook's Corner for 18 years. Elaine was a devoted and active member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Parish in Kohler and a CCD volunteer. She enjoyed crafts, reading, creating projects for her grandchildren and tending to her rosebushes. Elaine was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her Christian faith was very important to her. Elaine is survived by her husband of 54 years, James; three daughters, Diana Denzin of Sheboygan Falls, Katherine (Douglas) Groeschl of Tapiola, MI, and Donna (Alan) Pikula of Sheboygan; two sons, Peter (Barbara) Denzin of Glenbeulah and Mark Denzin of Sheboygan Falls; seven grandchildren, Luke Groeschl, Kera Pikula, Zachary, Collin, and Jared Denzin, Easton and Joslyn Wagner; and one sister, Helen Carole Dicke of Sheboygan Falls. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Kalupa and Helen Kalupa Strasser; and her step father, Louis Strasser. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Elaine's life will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. John Evangelist Catholic Parish in Kohler with the Very Rev. Dennis VanBeek officiating. Burial will follow at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the church on Friday from 9 am until the time of the Mass at 11am. Mark Bettag and staff, the 2nd floor nursing staff at St. Nicholas Hospital, and Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their care and compassion. In accordance with Elaine's wishes, a memorial fund is being established in her name, in lieu of flowers. The staff of the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls (920-467-3431) is serving the Denzin family.
