Edith Meinen

Edith H. Meinen, 93, formerly of Cedar Grove died early on Monday morning, February 23, 2009 at Pine Haven Christian Home where she had resided for the past seven years. Edith was born on April 8, 1915 in the Town of Holland, the daughter of the late E. H. and Hattie (TenHaken) Harmelink. She attended schools in the Cedar Grove area. On June 27, 1934 Edith married the late Herbert Meinen in Cedar Grove. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1994. Edith was a charter member of Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. She enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edith is survived by one daughter, Carolyn (Neil) Bruggink of Cedar Grove; three sons, Carl (Carol) Meinen of Northport, NY, Ronald (Shirley) Meinen of Cedar Grove, and LaMont (Sally) Meinen of Menomonie; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one sister, Lois Hilbelink of Cedar Grove; and one brother-in-law, Harold "PeeWee" TenHaken of Sheboygan Falls. Edith was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; two sisters, Eunice (Willard) Veldhorst and Harriet TenHaken; one brother, Ervin (Wilma) Harmelink; three sisters-in-law, Ann (John) VerVelde, Ella ( Bill VerVelde & John Veldboom), and Mabel (Harry) Weakamp; and four brothers-in-law, Lee Hilbelink, Art (Emily), Harold (Henrietta), and Edwin Meinen. Funeral services will be held at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 4 pm with the Rev. Earl Slotman officiating. Burial will take place at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Saturday from 2 PM until the time of the service at 4 pm.
