Earl L. Lohuis, 74, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 27, 2011 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Earl was born on August 5, 1937 in Sheboygan, son of Elmer and Lizzie (TerMaat) Lohuis. He was a 1955 graduate of Oostburg High School. Earl served in the US Marines from 1955-1959. On November 14, 1959 he married Janice Hopeman in the Town of Holland. Earl was employed in the pottery department of the Kohler Company for 30 years until his retirement in 1999. Earl is a member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg. He was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club. Earl enjoyed hooking rugs, car rides, bowling, card playing both cribbage and canasta, dominoes, and traveling. He enjoyed attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed spending time with his two great-grandsons. Earl was an avid Green Bay Packer and UW Badger fan. Earl is survived by his wife, Janice; his daughter, Debra (Lee) Hengst of Oostburg; his two sons Lee (Karen) Lohuis of Sheboygan Falls and Carl Lohuis of Sheboygan; nine grandchildren, Erin and Emily Hengst, Brian (Jamie) Berlin, Jason (Andrea) Berlin, Jodi (special friend Trevor) Berlin, Jenifer (special friend Nathan) Lohuis, Jamie (special friend Alistar) Lohuis, Megan (Jovanny) Guillen and Isebelle; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Riley Berlin; one sister, Virginia (Merlin) Rusch of Sheboygan; one brother, Norbert (Esther) Lohuis of Sheboygan Falls; three sisters-in-law, Audrey (Don) Ringel of Sheboygan, Marlene (Bill) Hoftiezer of Sheboygan Falls and Dianne (Mark) Stokdyk of Plymouth. Earl was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald (Shirley) Lohuis. Private family services will be held at the Chapel of Eternal Light at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Wayne Tripp officiating. Military honors will follow. A memorial fund has been established in Earl's name for the American Cancer Society and the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund.
