E. Elizabeth "Liz" (McCue) Scribner, 71, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 10, 2014, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. Liz was born on October 19, 1942, in Joplin, MO, daughter of Wren and Charlotte (Rose) Guthrie. She was a 1962 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. On June 25, 1960, she married Thomas McCue at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls. Liz and Tom were foster parents for many children since 1967 and operated the McCue Adult Family Home for 15 years. Tom passed away on April 27, 2001. On July 13, 2007, Liz was again blessed with marriage to Thomas Scribner of Sheboygan Falls, the joy of her life for the past 12 years. Liz was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls. She enjoyed garage sales, oil painting, yard work, quilting, sewing, playing cards, and antique collecting. Liz will be remembered for re-painting the Manitowoc American flag rock on I-43. Liz is survived by her loving husband, Tom Scribner; five daughters, Susan (David Bubb) Blevons of Pickerel, Debbie (Duane) Joosse of Sheboygan Falls, Patricia (Larry) Helmer of Sheboygan, Maria (Heidi Cain) Zachari of Sheboygan Falls, and Sharon (Mike Wojciechowski) Luecke of Fox Point; two sons, Thomas Jr. (Jennifer) McCue of Sheboygan Falls and David (Amy) McCue of Manitowoc; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Doris Love of Wausau, Delores Ward of Milwaukee, Minnie Schultz of Tucson, AZ, and Jennifer Guthrie of Sheboygan; two brothers, John (Darlene) Guthrie of Tucson, AZ and Donald (Laurie Schneiderwent) Guthrie of Sheboygan; one sister-in-law, Eileen Martin of Overland, MO; one brother-in-law, Bill McCue of Sheboygan; and many dear nieces and nephews. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Tom McCue; three sisters, Betty Guthrie, Louise (Carlos) Juarez, and Rosalie (Robert) Herman; one brother, Charles Martin; and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann McCue. A funeral service to celebrate Liz's life will be held at 10:30 on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, March 13, 2014, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and also on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Liz's name for St. Vincent de Paul.
