Duane B. Jensema, 67, of 210 South Second Street, Cedar Grove, died early Sunday morning, May 15, 2011, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center. Duane was born on August 28, 1943, in Sheboygan, the son of Bernard and Sylvia (Schreurs) Jensema. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1961. Duane served in the US Army in Germany from 1964-66. On October 21, 1967, he married Linda Meerdink in Cedar Grove. Duane worked at Exacto Spring Corp. in Grafton before his retirement in 2008. Duane was a member of the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where he served as deacon, elder, usher, on various committees, and sang in the choir. He was a former volunteer with the Cedar Grove Fire Dept. He enjoyed woodworking, picture framing, traveling, card playing, camping, and music. Duane and his family enjoyed many summers at their cottage up north, near Shawano. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Cedar Grove; one daughter, Christine Jensema of Cecil; one son, Tim Jensema of Sheboygan; two sisters, Vera (Bill) Nitsch of Sheboygan and Sharon (Larry) Martin of Sussex; and two brothers, Ronald (Maryann) Jensema of Oostburg and Neil (Judy) Jensema of Sheboygan Falls; and one sister-in-law, Doris Buyze of Cedar Grove. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Sylvia Jensema; his parents-in-law, Erwin and Edna Meerdink; one sister, Marilyn (Earl) Stokdyk; and one brother-in-law, Leon Buyze. A funeral to celebrate Duane's life will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 10:30 am with the Rev. Kent Vant Hul officiating. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends may greet the family at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Tuesday from 4-8 pm, and on Wednesday, from 9:30 until the time of the service.
