Dorothy J. Wilterdink, 92, of Gibbsville, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls. Dorothy was born on August 24, 1921, in the Town of Lima, oldest of nine children and daughter of George and Esther (Lammers) Jensema. She attended the one-room, Hillcrest School and was a 1939 graduate of Oostburg High School. On June 23, 1944, she married Marvin Wilterdink in the Town of Lima. Marvin passed away on October 18, 1990. Prior to her marriage, she worked picking cherries in Sister Bay, in Door County, and at Huth James Shoe Factory in Cedar Grove. She farmed and worked along-side her husband for 46 years. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Gibbsville Reformed Church, where she was active in Bethany Circle and Women's Missionary Society. She was a member of the Lima Homemakers Club, Sheboygan County Farm Bureau, and a 4-H leader. Dorothy enjoyed sports, watching the Green Bay Packers and Oostburg High School basketball team, Scrabble, gardening, and card playing. Dorothy enjoyed many winters in Florida and cherished the time she could spend babysitting her grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her five daughters, Shirley Cram of Raleigh, NC, Barb Hilbelink of Sheboygan Falls, Rogene (John) Huibregtse of Mackinac, MI, Diane (Bob) Daane of Hingham, and Linda Wilterdink of Minneapolis, MN; her two sons, Glenn Wilterdink and David Wilterdink, both of Sheboygan Falls; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Carol (Bob) DenBoer of Sheboygan, Marilyn Steiro of Amasa, MI, and Joyce Van Haveren of Sheboygan; and two brothers, Cal (Harriet) Jensema of Oostburg and Mark (Elizabeth) Jensema of Appleton. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Marvin, her parents, her daughter-in-law, Laurie Wilterdink, granddaughter, Brittany Daane, one sister, Elvira Jensema, and two brothers, Floyd (Johanna) Jensema and Gordon Jensema; and two brothers-in-law, Ken Steiro and Jim Van Haveren. Funeral services to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Gibbsville Reformed Church with Rev. John Ornee officiating. A family service will precede at 1:15 pm in the choir room. Burial will take place at Gibbsville Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Sunday from 2-6 pm, and on Monday, at church from 12:30 am until the time of the service at 1:30 pm.
