Dorothy Theune

Dorothy F. Theune, 92, a resident of Pine Haven Christian Home for the past five years and formerly of Cedar Grove, entered into eternal life surrounded by her family on Tuesday evening, February 8, 2011 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. Dorothy was born on September 4, 1918 in Hingham, daughter of the late Henry and Dora (Jentink) Harmelink. On May 21, 1938 she married Kenneth Theune at the Calvary OPC parsonage while wearing a pink rose and sweet pea corsage. Kenneth preceded her in death following 51 years of marriage on September 7, 1989. Dorothy was a charter member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove. She was active in the Calvary Bible League, as a Sunday School and Bible Class teacher, a volunteer at St. Nicholas Hospital, Red Cross Blood Bank, Good As New Shop and Pine Haven Christian Home. Dorothy loved flowers and was a member of the Whispering Cedars Garden Club. She lived in various communities in the area but was a long time resident of Cedar Grove where she participated in the annual Holland Festival. Dorothy looked forward to Fridays and playing cards with her card club. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the activities at Pine Haven. Dorothy was very involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren for who she provided love, support, and a shining example of a Christian faith. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Daniel) Browne of Vermont; three sons, Daniel (Leona), Michael (Linda), Dale (Betsy) Theune all of Cedar Grove; six grandchildren, Amy (Will) Schoeder, Suzanne (Keenan) Bosworth, David (Meredith) Theune, Nathan (Amy) Theune, Jacqueline (Chad) Hoopman, Carla Theune; nine great-grandchildren; Halle, Jack, and Joseph Schoeder, Elysia, Quinn, and Mason Hoopman, Justin Theune, Caroline Theune, and Maizy Bosworth. She is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bernice Harmelink of Oostburg, Jean Harmelink of Pine Haven, LaVonne "Dolly" Debbink of Cedar Grove, Norm (Shirley) Theune Wabeno, Rodney (Bea) Theune of Florida, and Grace (Richard) Harmelink of California. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, two sons, Keith and Ronald Theune; four sisters, Gezena Harmelink, Mabel (Fred) Zenk, Joyce (Alfred) Salzwedel, Betty (John) Schreurs; and seven brothers, Garritt (Margaret), John, Herman (Eleanor), Willard (Elda), Harry (Dorothea), Donald, and Harold Harmelink. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11:00 am at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ronald Beabout officiating. Burial will take place at Cedar Grove Presbyterian Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Dorothy's name for Calvary OPC for missions and the Pine Haven Christian Home.
