Donald Raymond Schroeder, 85, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Don was born on June 20, 1931 in Sheboygan to Gustav and Adelia (Nix) Schroeder. He was a 1949 graduate of Kohler High School. On April 14, 1956 he married Patricia Peterson at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Don was a machinist for the Kohler Company until his retirement in 1992. Don was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where he was on the finance committee, sang in the senior choir for 30 years and volunteered for various activities within church. Don enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening and loved playing baseball. He played on the Kingsbury Brewery Hardball team, where he was given the nickname "Duke" and also played on the Blust Porky's baseball team and the Kohler Recreation basketball league. Don was a loving and devoted father and grandfather, who absolutely adored his grandchildren. Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia; two sons, Mark (Denise) of Sheboygan Falls and Steven (Sherry) of Elkhart Lake; two grandchildren, Trenton and Kayla; three step grandchildren, Shantell, Matt and Andy; one great grandson, Patrick; two sisters, Ruth (Gilbert) Sass of Sheboygan Falls and Lois (James)Voigt of Surrey BC, Canada; two sisters-in-law, Carol (Don) Shroll of Sheboygan Falls and Carol Peterson of Boise, ID. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and step father-in-law, Lois (Gene) Bell; and two brothers-in-law, Ed Peterson and Fred Bell. A funeral service to celebrate Don's life will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Burial will be at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 11am until the time of service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Don's name.
