Donald Lamansky

July 13, 1941 — October 22, 2016

Donald "Don" Paul Lamansky, 75, of Sheboygan Falls, went home to his Lord and Savior on October, 22, 2016 after a 46 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Don was born on July 13, 1941 in the family farm house in Brighton, IA to Leroy and Kasylda (Peck) Lamansky. Don was born again in 1981, when his Lord and Savior found him. Don was a 1959 graduate of Brighton High School and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1965 with a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics. In 1965 he married Jeanette Dickinson; they had three children together. Don taught math at JB Young Junior High in Davenport, IA from 1965-1970. Don created a program for instructional methods and curricula for teaching remedial math that was used in the state for years. While teaching, he was also a football coach, and took pride in two of his former players who went on to play professional football: Curtis Craig, who played for the New England Patriots, and Roger Craig, who played for the San Francisco 49ers. He then became the plant manager at Struthers-Dunn in Bettendorf, IA, until 1982. Don was a member of Immanuel Bible Church in Sheboygan. He loved growing in his faith and he read his Bible every morning and listened to the Bible on CD every night. Don loved spending time in the woods and spent four summers in Oregon working as a forest ranger. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Green Bay Packers. His most favorite time was when he was with his family, especially his grandchildren. Even though Don suffered from MS for 46 years, his life was full of joy and he was a true inspiration to everyone he met. He always had a twinkle in his eye as he was concocting a practical joke on someone. He had a quick wit and was always ready with a funny comment. Don is survived by his three children, Curtis (Maria) Lamansky of Sheboygan Falls, Tamara (fiancé Albert Sutton) Lamansky of Davenport, IA and Debra (Peter) Mills of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, Philip, Andrew, Anthony and Elizabeth Lamansky and Katelyn and Alexis Mills; one sister, Pearl Arnold of Washington, IA; one brother, James (Sandra) Lamansky of Boise, ID and one brother-in-law, George Davison of Washington, IA. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Rosalee (Keith) Farrier, Esther (Edward) Edwards, Mary Ann Davison, and Susan Lamansky; one brother-in-law, Roger "Pete" Arnold and one grandson, Nathaniel Lamansky. A funeral service to celebrate Don's life will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Immanuel Bible Church in Sheboygan at 6 pm with Dr. Richard Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Plain, IA. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at the church from 4 pm until the time of service at 6 pm. A memorial fund in Don's name is being established. Don Lamansky has finished the course down here but has just begun it up there. He was wheelchair bound for 35 years, so we are pretty sure the only one in heaven who can out run him now is Jesus. Dad, enjoy running on those streets of gold; you were amazing!
