Donald Gabrielse

Donald W. Gabrielse, 71, of Oostburg died at St Nicholas Hospital on Saturday morning, September 1, 2012. Don was born on June 14, 1941 in Sheboygan, the son of the late William and Agnes (Leys) Gabrielse. Don graduated from Oostburg High School in 1959. He married Audrey "Audie" Theune on July 8, 1966 in Oostburg. Don, together with his family, owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Lima for many years. Don was a member of the First Reformed Church in Oostburg, the Wednesday Morning Men's Golf League, Gibbsville Golf League, and the Monday Morning Golf Club. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed sports spectating, attending his children's and grandchildren's activities, gardening, animals, mowing lawn, traveling, music, and spending time with his dear dog, Ernie. Don is survived by his wife, Audie; and two sons, Thad (Julie) Gabrielse of Gibbsville; Travis (Nanette) Gabrielse of Oostburg and; six grandchildren, Preston, Porter, Paige Gabrielse, Parker, Brittany, and Brooke Gabrielse; one sister, Rogene Gartman of Oostburg; one brother, Jerry (Renee) Gabrielse of Richland Center; three sisters-in-law, Ginny (Don) Debbink of Sheboygan Falls, Linda (Leon) Wilterdink of Sheboygan Falls, Mary (Lee) Kaat of Oostburg, and two brothers-in-law, Roger (Sue) Theune of Sheboygan and Rod (Kim) Theune of Oostburg. Don was preceded in death by his parents, William and Agnes Gabrielse; parents-in-law, Ray and Evelyn Theune; and one brother-in-law, Cal Gartman. A celebration of Don's life will take place at the funeral service to be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 1:30 pm at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Garden in the Town of Wilson. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday from 3-8 pm, and on Wednesday, at church, from 12:30 pm until the time of the service.
