Dona Tripp

Dona Mae Tripp, 87, of Cedar Grove went into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday evening, July 8, 2014. Dona was born on April 6, 1927, in St. Louis, Michigan, the daughter of Maitland and Emma (Bebow) Priest. She graduated from St. Louis High School in 1945 and then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. On June 9, 1952, she married Wayne Nellis Tripp in Holland, Michigan. Dona worked and supported her husband through seminary. Together with her husband she actively ministered at numerous churches with the Reformed Church in America in Mattawan, Michigan, Monroe, South Dakota, Sully, Iowa, Cedar Grove and Oostburg, WI. She was currently a member of the First Reformed Church in Oostburg and formerly was a Sunday School teacher, Bible Study leader and provided personal counseling to many individuals. Dona was a gifted artist, and was accomplished in drawing and sketching. She enjoyed word puzzles and traveling. Her greatest joys though were assisting her husband in their ministry for Christ and spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. Dona is survived by her husband of 62 years, Pastor Wayne Nellis Tripp; one daughter, Vicki (James) Ebbers of Oostburg; one son, Timothy (Kathy Jaarsma Tripp) Tripp of Pella, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Courtney (Trevor) Peterson, Dana, Bradley, Leah, Adam Ebbers, Aemelia, Bailey, and Naomi Jaarsma Tripp; one great granddaughter, Ava Peterson; and one sister-in-law, Elaine Priest of St. Louis, Michigan. Dona is also survived by three nieces, Mary Kuenn of St. Louis, MI, Linda Oberling of Crested Butte, CO, and Toni Priest of Kentwood, MI; and two foster children, Ethel (Stanley) Mack of Portage, Michigan and Robert (Jean) Kinney of Michigan City, Indiana. Dona was preceded in death by her parents, Maitland Priest, Emma and Glenn Gard; and one brother, Melvin Priest. A funeral to celebrate Dona's life will be held at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 11 am with the Revs. Kent Vant Hul and Brian Taylor and Mr. BJ Hilbelink officiating. Burial will take place at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Monday from 4-8 pm, and on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 11 am.
