Dona Claire Emma Heinig, 89, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center. Dona was born on September 18, 1926 in Sheboygan to Erwin and Lillie (DeGroot) Ramm. She was a 1945 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School and then graduated in 1948 from St. Mary School of Nursing in Rochester, MN. On October 14, 1950 Dona married Grover Heinig. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1983. Dona was a registered nurse for over 30 years, working for Dr. Hanson and various nursing homes until she retired in 1991. Dona was a member of St. Peter Episcopal Church in Sheboygan Falls; she was active with the Altar Guild and the Ladies Auxiliary Guild. She was also involved with Campfire Girls, the Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, Sheboygan Falls Food Pantry and was a charter member of Sheboygan Falls Friends of the Library. Dona enjoyed needle point, knitting, ceramics, reading, baking, playing cards and collecting bells, cows and salt and pepper shakers. Dona is survived by three daughters, Heather Schneider of Sheboygan Falls, Laurel (Mike) Cizauskas of Newton and Gwen (Greg) Pribek of Sheboygan Falls; two sons, Scott (Michelle) Heinig of Elkhart Lake and Kirk (Arlyne) Heinig of Plymouth; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Jacqueline (Dale) Kuck of Merrill and Jodell (Jack) Henning of Sheboygan Falls; one brother-in-law, Glen (Joanne) Wernecke of AR. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Grover, two great grandsons, one son-in-law, Thomas Schneider and one sister, Aleeta Wernecke. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. Peter Episcopal Church in Sheboygan Falls at 11am with Rev. John Throop officiating. Burial will be at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls from 4-7pm and again on Wednesday at the church from 10am until the time of mass at 11am. A memorial fund is being established for St. Peter Episcopal Church and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Dona's name.
