Diane Voskuil

Diane J. Voskuil, 68, of Oostburg died peacefully at her home with her family at her side on Sunday morning, June 1, 2014. Diane was born in Sheboygan on May 22, 1946, the daughter of the late Clarence and Alyce (Bos) Wensink. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1964 and then attended nursing school at Lakeshore Technical Institute. On May 28, 1965 she married Wendel H. Voskuil in Gibbsville. Diane was a nurse and scheduler at St. Nicholas Hospital for 27 years before her retirement in 2011. Diane was a faithful member and elder at First Reformed Church in Oostburg and also attended River Rock Community Church and Word of Grace Community Church. While active at those churches she participated in numerous prayer groups and Bible studies. She was a volunteer with the Sheboygan County Prison Ministry and Celebrate Recovery. She enjoyed sports, camping, and traveling, but most of all, spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She and Wendel were foster parents to Tonya, Dawn and Larry. Diane had a generous spirit and genuine care for others. She had a passion for sharing her faith in Jesus Christ with others. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Wendel; four children, Terry (Dawn) Voskuil of Pecatonica, IL, Kristy (Tim) DeBlaey of Elkhart Lake, Chad (Melanie) Voskuil and Nate (Jess) Voskuil, both of Oostburg; 11 grandchildren, Crystal, Caleb and Charity Voskuil, Ashley, Brooke, and Courtney DeBlaey, Jonah and Elisha Voskuil, and Jaden, Kylie, and Landen Voskuil; two sisters, Carol (John) Lammers of Oostburg and Betty (Ron) Strahl of Sheboygan; one brother, Paul (Jill) Wensink of Sheboygan; two sisters-in-law, Angeline (David) Hoftiezer of Oostburg and Lynn (Larry) Reimes of Sheboygan Falls; three brothers-in-law, Rev. Roger (Kathy) Voskuil of Sioux Center, Iowa, Fred (Kathy) Voskuil and Lee (Mary) Voskuil, both of Oostburg; nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Diane was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and faithful friend. She will be remembered for her godly example. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister; an infant brother, Richard Wensink; and her parents-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Voskuil. A celebration of Diane's life will take place at the funeral service to be held at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg at 1:30 pm on Friday, June 6, 2014 with the Revs. Brian Taylor and Michael Lueck officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday from 4-8 pm, and on Friday, at church, from 12:30 pm until the time of the service.
