Derwin L. "Dick" Dulmes, 91, of W4406 Riverbend Drive, Waldo (Hingham) died at his home on Saturday morning, April 30, 2011. Dick was born on May 13, 1919, in the Town of Lima, the son of Jesse and Clara (Jensema) Dulmes. He attended Oostburg High School. He married Jeanette Hesselink on January 26, 1944 at the home of the bride's parents in the Town of Holland. Dick was a dairy farmer in the Town of Holland for many years before his retirement in 1983. Dick was a lifelong member at Hingham Reformed Church where he served as deacon, elder, usher, Sunday School teacher and superintendent, and sang in the choir, Men's Chorus, and was part of the Men's Brotherhood. He was a member of the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau. Dick enjoyed golf, bowling, playing sheepshead and dominoes, gardening, music, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanette of Hingham; one daughter, Beverly Walber of Oostburg; three sons, David (Rogene) Dulmes of Oostburg, Glenn (Jody) Dulmes of Clearwater, Florida, Keith (Carol) Dulmes of Waldo; a daughter-in-law, Dianne (Jim) VerGowe of Sheboygan Falls; twelve grandchildren, Kevin (Shelly) Dulmes, Shelly (Dan) Mullikin, Eric Dulmes, Tim (Angela) Dulmes, Nicole (Jay) Horne, Shane Dulmes, Eric (Jessica) Krause, Jeremy Krause, Anthony (Stacy) Dulmes, Jerrod Dulmes, Amy (Gordie) Seegert, and Alison (Luke) Scholten; eleven great grandchildren; a sister, Carol (John) Vruwink of North Carolina; a brother, Wayne (Lois) Dulmes of Oostburg; a sister-in-law, Lillian (Gerald) Dykstra of Hingham; nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Clara Dulmes; his parents-in-law, Abram and Delia (VerGowe) Hesselink; an infant daughter, a son, Roland Dulmes; a son-in-law, Ronald Hilbelink; a brother, Clifford (Beatrice) Dulmes; a sister-in-law, Violet Dulmes; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Romelle) Hesselink and Vernon (Leora) Hesselink; and a niece, Amy Jo Hesselink. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Hingham Reformed Church with the Rev. Steven Bakker officiating. A family service will precede at 10:45 am in the choir room. Burial will follow at the Hingham Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the Hingham Reformed Church, on Tuesday from 4-7 pm, and on Wednesday, from 10 am until the time of the service.
