Dennis Prepster

Dennis L. Prepster, 73, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at home. Dennis was born on March 21, 1942, in Sheboygan, son of Leo and Loretta (Buechel) Prepster. He was a 1960 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. Dennis was a veteran of the US Army from 1960 until 1966, attaining rank of Specialist 5. He was based in Hanau, Germany until 1963, Camp Ross in Korea until 1964, then Kurat, Thailand until 1966. On November 30, 1968, he married Cheryl Miller at Holy Name Church in Sheboygan. Dennis was employed as a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad for many years. Dennis was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler, where he was active in the church dartball league. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, word searches, watching all sports, especially the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers, and was an avid reader of spy novels. A lifelong Sheboygan resident, Dennis couldn't go anywhere in town without running into someone that he knew from the "old neighborhood", school or work. He would talk to anyone about anything and loved sharing corny jokes. Dennis is survived by Cheryl, his wife of 46 years; his two daughters, Melissa Prepster of Kyle, TX, and Angie (David) Malanick of Sheboygan; one sister, Kathleen (Herbert) Scharrer of Sheboygan; one brother-in-law, Merrill "Butch" (Gloria) Miller of Kohler and one sister-in-law, Mary Lee (Nancy Rice) Miller of Rochester, New York. Dennis is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends. Funeral services to celebrate Dennis' life will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler with Rev. Robert Steele officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Sunday for visitation from 2:00 pm until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Dennis' name.
