Dennis "Dizzy" N. Dehn, 65, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at his home. Dennis was born on September 29, 1950, in Oshkosh, son of Norman "Bud" and Betty (Lautenschlager) Dehn. He was a 1968 graduate of Oakfield High School and a 1972 graduate of Lakeland College, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for football and baseball. Dennis taught at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Plymouth from 1972 - 1974. He then taught science at Oostburg Middle School until he retired in 2009. Dizzy coached football under his "second father" John Thome at Lakeland College, and also was the varsity football coach at Oostburg High School for five years. On July 29, 1977, he married Kathryn "Kay" Vander Wyst in Kimberly, WI. They resided in Sheboygan Falls since their marriage. Dennis was a member of the NRA and an avid walker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, football, weight lifting, and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored and were the love of his life. Dennis is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kay; his daughter, Ashley (Cory) Gumieny; his son, Ben Dehn; two grandsons, Colton and Weston Gumieny; his mother Betty Dehn; two sisters, Sandra (Vince) Swederske and Debbie (Brad) Miller; three brothers, Bruce, Mark (Lynne), and Mike Dehn; mother-in-law, Carol Vander Wyst; three sisters-in-law, Sue (Royce Finne) Bischel, Mary Johnson, and Amy (Dave) Powers; one brother-in-law, Rick (Mary) Vander Wyst; and dear friends, Linda and Jim Lehrke. Dennis is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Norman, and father-in-law, Richard Vander Wyst. A memorial service to celebrate Dennis' life will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with Lay Minister Dale Miller officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:00 pm. Dennis was a dedicated educator. Therefore, a college fund is being established in his name for his grandsons, Colton and Weston.
