Deborah Winkel

Deborah "Deb" J. Winkel, 67, of Oostburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Deb was born on April 27, 1949 in Sheboygan to Abraham and Enid (Voight) Roelse. She was a 1967 graduate of Sheboygan South High School. On April 4, 1970 she married Edwin E. Winkel in Sheboygan. Deb was a cook at the Knotty Pine and an aide at Pine Haven Christian Home. Deb loved children, throughout the years her and Ed also took care of eight foster children. When the first grandchild was born, Deb proudly stayed home and took care of each of her six grandchildren until they were old enough to go to school. Deb adored her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Deb is survived by her husband, Ed; her three children, Scott Winkel of Oostburg, Kristine (Ben) Schmidt of Hingham and Nathan (Jamie) Winkel of Sheboygan Falls; six grandchildren, Caitlyn (fiancé Cody), Collyn, Hunter, Malayna, Austin and Allie; two brothers, Ken (Mary) Roelse of Sheboygan and Craig (Kim) Roelse of CO; one brother-in-law, Tom (Nancy) Winkel of Sheboygan Falls; one sister-in-law, Barb (Steve) Grunewald of Sheboygan; and one special nephew and God son, Andrew. Deb is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Deb was preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-law, Edwin C. and Harriet Winkel; and an infant brother and sister, Mark and Cindy. A funeral service to celebrate Deb's life will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 7pm at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with Rev. Rick TenDolle officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the funeral home from 3pm until the time of service at 7pm.
