Deborah L. Hopeman, 63, of Cedar Grove went to her eternal home with her family at her side on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Grafton Aurora Medical Center where she had been a patient for the past four days.Deb was born on February 3, 1954 in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Arline (Meyer) Lammers. Deb graduated from Oostburg High School in 1972. On December 4, 1982 she married Mark Hopeman at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg. Deb and her husband owned a dairy farm in the Town of Holland. She also worked in food service for the Oostburg and Cedar Grove-Belgium Public School Districts.Deb was an active member at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where she found meaning in serving others as a food service coordinator/cook, former Sunday School teacher and custodian. She and her husband were members of Sheboygan County Farm Bureau. Deb had a passion for flower gardening and enjoyed decorating, shopping, sewing, traveling to Door County, and taking Sunday rides with her husband. But most of all, she enjoyed being with and caring for her grandchildren.Deb is survived by her husband, Mark, of Cedar Grove; one daughter, Michelle (fiancé Myles Treptow) Hopeman of Cedar Grove; three sons, Kevin (Tanya) Hopeman, Daniel (Traci) Hopeman, and Jason (Jeni) Hopeman, all of Cedar Grove; eight grandchildren, Natalie, Austin, and TJ Hopeman, Madelyn, Deacon and Bria Hopeman, and Noah and Lauren Hopeman; one brother, Stanley (Wendy) Lammers of Oostburg; a sister-in-law, Carol (Lloyd) DeRuyter of Cedar Grove; a brother-in-law, Harland (Marian) Hopeman of Oostburg; nieces and nephews.Deb was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Arline Lammers; parents-in-law, William and Alma Hopeman; a daughter, Amy Hopeman; two infant grandchildren, Parker and Evan Hopeman; and one brother, Jim Lammers.A funeral to celebrate Deb's life will take place at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10 am with the Rev. Chris Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery.Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday from 3-8 pm, and at church, on Saturday from 9 am until the time of the service at 10 am.For online condolences and additional information please visit
