Dean J. Berke, 50, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 18, 2016 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. Dean was born on July 20, 1965 in Milwaukee to Helmut and Marlene (Maechtle). He was a 1983 graduate of St. Cloud High School in St. Cloud, FL and a 1987 graduate of Moraine Technical College in Fond Du Lac as a Journeyman Electrician. On May 29, 1988 he married Patricia Haas at Millhome Supper Club. He was a journeyman electrician for 10 years at Gustke Electric until he founded Berke Electric in 1994 and became a master electrician. Dean attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where he played bass guitar with the celebration and harvest worship teams. He was also part of the traveling band, Jericho, that played at area churches as well as Christian musical festivals. For 5 years, Dean played at Zion Covenant Church in Sheboygan as well as the worship leader one weekend a month at Living Word of God in Saukville. He had a love for restoring Volkswagons and repairing John Deere tractors. Dean and Tricia served as secretary and treasurer for the Volkswagon Club of Sheboygan. Dean is survived by his wife, Tricia; two sons, Chad and Collin Berke, both of Sheboygan Falls; his mother, Marlene Berke of Sheboygan Falls; two sisters, Christine (Richard) Waterbury of Sheboygan and Annette (David) Leraaen of Oskaloosa, IA; one brother, Steven (Judy) Berke of Plymouth; his mother-in-law, Vonnie Schroeder of Sheboygan; his father-in-law, Dwayne (Tish) Haas of Dickinson, ND; two sisters-in-law, Angela (Eric) Meyer of Sheboygan and Sheral (David) Walker of Villa Rica, GA and one brother-in-law, William (Jen) Schroeder of St. Paul, MN. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous dear friends. He was preceded in death by his dad, Helmut Berke; grandparents, Edward and Melitta Berke and Elmer and Rena Maechtle; and one brother-in-law, Richard D. Haas. A funeral service to celebrate Dean's life will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, with Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Burial will be at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls from 4-7pm and again on Saturday at the church from 12pm until the time of service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Dean's name.
