David Leynse

David J. Leynse, 71, of Sheboygan Falls passed away at his home on Saturday, September 5, 2015 with his wife and family at his side along with his furry friend, Murphy. Dave was born on April 29, 1944 in Milwaukee County and was adopted as a toddler by Mildred and Cornelius Leynse of Hingham, WI. Following the death of his mother Mildred, his dad married Johanna Tempas and she adopted Dave when he was 31 years old. He felt truly blessed to have been adopted twice by loving, wonderful people. Dave grew up in Hingham and graduated from Oostburg High School in 1962. He attended Central College in Pella, IA for a year and then served with the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1973 as a Drill Sergeant First Class. Dave married Judi Gardner at St. John's Lutheran Church in Plymouth on September 10, 1966. Following their marriage, they made their home in Sheboygan Falls for the majority of their married life. Dave became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Falls following their marriage to present. He served on the church council for a number of years, was a greeter and an usher for many years. Dave worked for many years at Kohler General in Sheboygan Falls and retired from Kurtz North America in 2007. He was one of the founders of the Falls United Football League and served as an officer and coach for many, many years and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the program. He enjoyed watching all sports but was especially an avid Brewers and Packers fan. Dave and Judi also enjoyed their many fishing trips to Phelps, WI and spending time with extended family on the lake. Survivors include his wife, Judi of nearly 49 years; his children Trish (Dave) Kuplic of Appleton and their children, Drew and Will; Toby (Donna) Leynse of Seminole, Florida and her children Philip and Joseph Freitas. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Judy Gardner of Jackson, WI; nieces, nephews, cousins and endearing friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius , Mildred and Johanna Leynse, his in-laws, Ed and Linda Gardner and his precious granddaughter, Ali Kuplic. A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 4pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Family and friends may gather on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at church from 2pm until the time of service at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to meals on wheels, St. Paul Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
