Darrel L. Veldboom, 69, of Sheboygan, died on Monday afternoon, September 5, 2016 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center. Darrel was born on March 8, 1947 in Sheboygan, the son of Gordon H. and Vivian (Heinen) Veldboom. Darrel graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1965. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Darrel was a welder and fabricator for Kiefer Sign in Sheboygan for over 30 years prior to his retirement in 2014. He was an active member and volunteer for the VFW Post 9156 in Sheboygan. Darrel is survived by his son, Scott (Wendy) Veldboom of Mukwonago; his mother, Vivian Veldboom of Sheboygan Falls; two grandchildren, Lilly and Jackson Veldboom; one sister, Joan (Ron) Bowen of Sheboygan; one brother, Phillip (Beth) Veldboom of Cedarburg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Darrel was preceded in death by his father, Gordon H. Veldboom; and his brother, Carl Veldboom. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place at the Chapel of Eternal Light, 6706 Superior Ave, Sheboygan on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10 am with the Rev. David VanDixhorn officiating. Military Honors will follow. Family and friends will gather at the Chapel of Eternal Light on Friday, Sept 16, 2016 from 9-10 am.
