Darlene M. Rach, 81, Kohler, passed away late Thursday evening, September 1, 2022 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.
Darlene was born March 2, 1941 in New Holstein, the daughter of Gilbert “Gibby” and Matilda “Tilly” (Toman) Karls. She graduated from New Holstein High School in 1959.
On June 2, 1962, she was united in marriage with James “Jim” Rach at Holy Rosary Church in New Holstein. He preceded her in death in 2012.
She went on to work at HUI Manufacturing, Tecumseh, Kohler Company, and lastly at Bemis Manufacturing where she retired from in 2003.
Darlene was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Parish in Kohler, as well as the Red Hat Society and Sheboygan Elks Club. She enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee, doing crossword puzzles, trips to the casino, reading, and above all spending time with her family. She was a great mother and grandmother. A music lover, she loved to listen and dance to polka music, especially Don Peachey and Frankie Yankovic. She was a fluent accordion player, who shared her music with her father when he was in a care facility. She was generous, helpful, supportive,
caring, strong, resilient and anyone who knew her, a bit stubborn. Most recently, her sense of humor flourished and brought great joy to those around her. Her family and friends could always tell when she had something to say or question by her sly smile and grin.
Darlene is survived by her children: Michelle (Don) MacLeod of CA and Michael (Karen) Rach of Sheboygan; grandchildren Ian MacLeod and Joshua Rach; sister Karen (Maurice) Germain of Chilton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and true lifelong friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, sister Joan (Lionel) Hellmer, her parents and in-laws Leo and Selma Rach.
