Dan Molter

Dan J. Molter, 56, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Aurora Grafton Medical Center. Dan was born on January 23, 1957 in Sheboygan, son of Ivan and Annette (Hoftiezer) Molter. He was a 1975 graduate of Cedar Grove High School and the University of Wisconsin in Madison where he received a degree in education. He married Lynn VanderPloeg on July 28, 1979 in Oostburg. Dan was a software engineer for Johnson Controls in Milwaukee for the past 35 years. Dan was a lifelong member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove where he served as a trustee and Sunday school teacher. He also served on the board for Holland Guild and the Cedar Grove Library Building Committee. Dan was an avid sports fan. While in high school he was a multi-event state champion in track and was a member of the UW Track team while in college. He was an avid UW Badger fan. Dan also coached basketball and softball. He enjoyed writing and authored a book "Call Me Danny". Dan is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lynn; his daughter, Allison (Dr. Alex) Feix of Whitefish Bay; his son, Michael Molter of Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Nolan and Josephine Feix; one sister, Joan (Dale) Meeusen of Cedar Grove; two brothers, David (Sandy) Molter of Elm Grove and James (Jill) Molter of Oostburg; his mother-in-law, Gerry VanderPloeg of Oostburg and a brother-in-law, Tom (Michele) VanderPloeg of Sheboygan Falls. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Carl VanderPloeg. Funeral services to celebrate Dan's life will be held at Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 10:30 am with the Rev. Donald Ritsman officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 3-8 pm, and on Saturday, at church, from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Dan's name for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Calvary OPC.
