Cynthia Hansen

Cynthia E. Hansen, 57, of Oostburg, passed away on Thursday morning, January 5, 2012 at Serenity Assisted Living Center in Grafton. Cindy was born on January 21, 1954 in Milwaukee, daughter of Joseph and Shirley (Geerdts) Jaster. She was a 1971 graduate of Grafton High School. On October 13, 1973 she married Joseph L. Hansen in Grafton. Joseph passed away on March 26, 1997. Cindy was employed in food service at Oostburg High School for seven years until her retirement in 2003. Previously she was a library aide at Oostburg Public Schools and was a meat wrapper at Park and Shop in Sheboygan. Cindy was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, volunteer, and a part of the Prayer Chain. She enjoyed baking, word puzzles, dominoes, playing cards, and bird watching. Cindy's contagious smile and laughter will be missed by many who knew her. Cindy is survived by two sons, Brian Hansen of Scottsdale, AZ and Brad (Ashley) Hansen of Oostburg; one grandson, Ayden Hansen; four sisters, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Waite and Gail (James) Krenz both of Grafton and Lauri (Ernest) Commons and JoAnn Evers, both of Port Washington. Cindy is also survived by many Hansen brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Shirley Jaster; her husband, Joe; her parents-in-law, Lester and Gladys Hansen; and brother-in-law, Vernon Evers. A private family graveside service will take place at Oostburg Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Rev. Brian Jacobson will preside. A memorial fund has been established in Cindy's name for The First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg.
