Conrad F. Zimmermann

Conrad Ferdinand Zimmermann, 93, of Kohler, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 6, 1929 at home in Sheboygan to Jacob and Anna (Miesfeld) Zimmermann.

He attended Sheboygan Public Schools, graduating from North High School in 1948. After graduation, he obtained his electrical apprenticeship. Conrad then went to serve in the United States Army in August of 1951. While on leave, he married Joan Ann Van Engen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls on December 29, 1951. They celebrated their 71st anniversary last month. She joined him where he was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War Conflict. His oldest son Michael was born there. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

Through the years, he worked for Mayr Electric, Rohde Bros. and Specht Electric, retiring in 1992. He was a 71 year member of Local Union 494 IBEW, and a 20 year member of EWSC.

Not only was he an electrician, he also learned bricklaying from his father. He built 5 houses from foundation to roof, and numerous other houses for relation. Being a jack of all trades, he could fix anything! His favorite hobby was genealogy, spending many hours at the Sheboygan Historical Research Society in Sheboygan Falls. He also was a Green Bay Packer fan, and enjoyed reading, watching PBS shows, attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren, and watching the Decorah Eagles on the internet.

Conrad said his greatest accomplishment in life was the legacy he leaves behind - his family.
