Clarence S. Huibregtse, 98, of Gibbsville, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 16, 2012, at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake where he had resided for the past ten months. Clarence was born on April 19, 1914, in the Town of Lima, the son of Jacob and Minnie (Brusse) Huibregtse. He attended Oostburg High School. On April 20, 1938 he married Bernice Onnink in Gibbsville. Bernice preceded him in death on March 25, 2010, following 71 years of marriage. He owned and operated the Clarence Huibregtse House Moving and Excavating Co. Clarence was a lifelong and the oldest living member of the Gibbsville Reformed Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent. Clarence enjoyed baseball and traveling. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly (Wayne) Hilbelink of Delevan and Jan (Wayne) Mentink of Corona, CA; one son, Barry (Judy) Huibregtse of Hingham; one daughter-in-law, Lynn (Wayne) Brasser of Hingham; six grandchildren, Brad (Elizabeth) Hilbelink, Dan (Kim) Hilbelink, both of Marshfield, Brian (Cathy) Huibregtse of Milwaukee, Kent (Carol) Huibregtse, Damon (Michelle) Huibregtse, Jessica (Michael) Davies, all of Hingham; 14 great-grandchildren, Avery, Ashley, Aaron and Elias Huibregtse, Logan and Mason Davies, all of Hingham, Caleb, Parker, and Hunter Huibregtse of Milwaukee, Anna, Grace, Henry, Emma and Luke Hilbelink of Marshfield. Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; his parents, one son, Rodney Huibregtse; an infant daughter, one sister, Marie (Clarence) Hesselink; one brother, John W. (Elsie) Huibregtse; six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A funeral service to celebrate Clarence's life will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11 am at the Gibbsville Reformed Church with Rev. John Ornee officiating. A family service will take place at 10:45 am in the choir room. Burial will take place in Gibbsville Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday from 5-7:30 pm, and on Friday, at church, from 10 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Clarence's name for the Gibbsville Reformed Church.
