Carroll Preder

Carroll R. Preder Carroll R. Preder, 76, of Sheboygan Falls, died Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was born January 5, 1932, in the Town of Wilson, the son of the late John and Alice (Shaver) Preder. Carroll was a 1951 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. During the summers before graduation, he worked at Waldo Canning Company. On November 8, 1952, he married Phylis DeSmith. Carroll worked at Richardson Brothers Furniture Factory from 1951-1958. and for Kohler Company until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club; active in Boy Scouts and Neighborhood Commission in the 1960's. He was an active member of First Baptist Church (now Falls Community Church), serving as deacon, usher, trustee and janitor. More recently, Carroll was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Kohler. He was active in the men's bible study group and ushering duties. He was a member of the Sheboygan Falls Conservation Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and going to Northern Wisconsin with one of his sons. If a neighbor needed help, he was always one of the first one's there. Carroll will be missed by his neighbors and friends. He enjoyed drives around Sheboygan County in his truck, sometimes visiting friends, sometimes just enjoying the scenery. He was a volunteer at the Red Cross blood drives. Carroll is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phylis; two daughters, Wendy Jones of Sheboygan Falls and Barbara (Rob) Allwardt of Bend, OR; two sons, Dale of Palm Harbor, FL and Alan (Peggy Ford) Preder of Sheboygan Falls; eight grandchildren; Tisha (Bill) Allee, Brent Jones (step grandson), Stephanie Preder, Brandon Allwardt, Russell Preder, Kaitlynn Jones, Paige Preder, and Nicole Preder; two great grandchildren; Billy and Miranda Allee; one brother, Wayland (Dorothy) Everett of WA; four sisters; Arline Ehren of Sheboygan Falls, Beatrice Carter of Dayton, NV, Muriel Schultz of Janesville, and Edythe (David) LeRoy of Sheboygan Falls; two sisters-in-law, Edith (Frank) Zaboj of Weyauwega, WI, and Kay (Lee) Oestreich of Fond du Lac; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin daughters, 3 brothers; Merlin (Florence), Norman, killed during WWII and Harold (Verna); 2 brothers-in-law, William Ehren, Nick Carter; and parents-in-law, Ralph and Vallie DeSmith. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at Grace United Church of Christ in Kohler, with the Rev. Tom Schroeder, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name for Grace UCC in Kohler and the Sharon S. Richardson Foundation. The family sends a HUGE thank you to the entire staff at Vince Lombardi Cancer Center in Sheboygan and also to Sharon S.
