Carolyn M. Meyer, 83, of Gibbsville died on Sunday afternoon, May 26, 2013 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice where she had resided since Friday. Carolyn was born on June 17, 1929 in the Town of Lima, the daughter of the late Irvin and Marie (Verhulst) Hesselink. She attended Oostburg High School. On June 5, 1948 she married the late Edward Meyer Sr. in Gibbsville. He preceded her in death on October 30, 2010. Carolyn was a lifelong member of the Gibbsville Reformed Church where she served as funeral lunch coordinator for many years and attended the Tuesday Morning Bible Study Group. She was a Salvation Army volunteer and was the Kettle Moraine Christmas Cookie Coordinator. Carolyn enjoyed, golf, knitting, crocheting, quilting, baking, playing cards, gardening, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren. She and Ed traveled extensively and spent many winters in Florida. Carolyn was foster mother to nine children. Carolyn is survived by two sons, James (Nancy) Meyer of Gibbsville and Philip (Julie) Meyer of Hingham; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Meyer of Gibbsville; a foster daughter, Janet (Jon) Holtz of Sheboygan; nine grandchildren, Roger (Sue) Meyer, Chad (Sara) Meyer, Amy (Charles) Clark, Jennifer (Tom) TeStroete, Nathan (Tina) Meyer, Cassondra Meyer, Joseph Meyer, Kayla Holtz and Ashley Holtz; 15 great grand children; two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Annette (Ed) Pamperin of Kohler and Jane (Gary) Jensema of Sheboygan Falls; four brothers, Ronald (Margaret) Hesselink of Oostburg, Vilas (Ellen) Hesselink of Pembine, Mark (Barb) Hesselink of Oostburg, and Dr. John (Dr. Kay) Hesselink of San Diego, CA.; nieces nephews, other relatives and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband and parents, two sons, Edward Jr. and Dale Meyer; and one brother Carl (Patricia) Hesselink. A funeral to celebrate Carolyn's life will take place at the Gibbsville Reformed Church on Thursday at 10:30 am with the Rev. John Ornee officiating. A family service will take place in the choir room at 10:15 am. Burial will follow at the Gibbsville Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Family and friends will gather at the Gibbsville Reformed Church on Wednesday from 4-8 pm, and on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am.
