Carol Sandee

Carol J. Sandee, 87, of Oostburg, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. Carol was born on April 27, 1926, in Sheboygan, daughter of William and Marie (Potter) Hoftiezer. She attended Horace Mann School. On September 6, 1946, she married Miles Sandee in Gibbsville. Miles passed away on January 26, 1985. Carol was a lifelong member of Gibbsville Reformed Church where she was active in the Women's Missionary Society and Heart to Heart group. She was a member of Oostburg Senior Citizens. Carol was a faithful supporter of Campus Life. Carol enjoyed reading, crocheting, quilting, playing cards, word puzzles, cooking, baking and traveling. Carol is survived by her four sons, Don (Beth) of Texas, Jim (Judy) of Cedar Grove, Roy (Joyce) of Random Lake, and Kent Sandee of Sheboygan; one son-in-law, Gerald Gantner of Belgium; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; three sisters, Dorothy Dulmes of Oostburg, Marian Friedrichs of Sheboygan, and Ruth (Jim) Hinz of Oostburg; three brothers, Ken (Dorothy) Hoftiezer of Oostburg, David (Angie) Hoftiezer of Gibbsville, and William (Marlene) Hoftiezer of Sheboygan Falls. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Miles; her daughter, Vivian Gantner, her son, Peter (MaryAnn) Sandee; one sister, Vivian Hoftiezer; four brothers, one infant, William Hoftiezer, Jr., Henry (Frances) Hoftiezer, and Allen (Lois) Hoftiezer. Funeral services to celebrate Carol's life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Gibbsville Reformed Church with Rev. John Ornee officiating. A family service will precede in the choir room at 10:15 am. Burial will take place in Gibbsville Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 4-8 pm, and at church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Carol's name for Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund, Campus Life, and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
