Carol Ann Fleming

Carol Ann Fleming, 80, of Sheboygan Falls passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side. Carol was born on November 6, 1943, to Russell and Myrna (Ramstack) Jones in Milwaukee. She graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1961 and obtained her bachelor’s degree in dietetics and nutrition science from Cardinal Stritch College in 1966. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Paul M. Fleming, MD on June 11, 1966. In 1968, Carol was appointed by the Lyndon Johnson Administration to develop and operate the food service for the newly opened Albina Head Start Program in Portland, Oregon. In 1970, Paul was drafted and Carol became a Navy wife based at Camp Pendleton, California. With military obligation and medical training completed, Paul and Carol moved their family to Sheboygan, Wisconsin where Paul began his medical practice, and Carol dedicated her life to raising their family.

The care of animals held a high priority for Carol. Not only did she nurture a large variety of pets throughout her life, but she was also an animal rescue volunteer for several years. Carol was a gourmet cook who took cooking classes around the world. She was also an artist and skilled acrylic painter. She enjoyed worldwide traveling, visiting countries in the far east, the Middle East, and Europe. An amateur Egyptologist, she was particularly gratified to spend some time in that country. She loved spending time in Mexico, where she and Paul owned for many years a home near Puerto Vallarta, an area they continued to visit annually. In recent years, Paul and Carol have been dividing their time between the Sheboygan area and their home in Mesa, Arizona.

Carol is survived by her loving husband Paul; daughter Kathryn (Everett) Grady of Kohler, WI; sons Edward (Jessica) Fleming of West Saint Paul, MN and Ryan (Meagan) Fleming of Cottage Grove, MN. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Myles, Clare, Simon, Liam, and Isabella Fleming, Emma and Morgan Grady, and Megan (Mike) Castaneda; Sisters-in-law, Alice Jones and Maija Jones, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Edward, Russell, and Curtis Jones.
