Carlos A. Bassuener, 76, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at St. Nicholas Hospital. Carlos was born on September 27, 1938, in Sheboygan, son of Andrew and Esther (Shillingowski) Bassuener. He was a 1957 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. Carlos began his employment with Poth's Food Market and then, Thomas Industries. He served in the US Army as an M.P. /Marksman in Fort Eustis, Virginia and in the National Guard. On February 6, 1960, he married Nancy Puntarec in Sheboygan. Carlos was then a police officer for the City of Sheboygan and later employed as a mixer and molder for Plastics Engineering for 35 years until his retirement in 2002. He was most recently employed as a property manager at Ravina Village in Sheboygan Falls. Carlos was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan where he served as an usher. He enjoyed golf, softball, bowling, fishing, and playing cards. He was a member of his card group for 35 years. Carlos especially enjoyed coaching baseball, softball, and football. Carlos is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy; his two sons, Keith Bassuener and Craig Bassuener, both of Sheboygan Falls; four grandchildren, Christopher, Allison, Kate, and Jonathan; and one brother-in-law, Carl Hinz. Carlos was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy Hinz. Funeral services to celebrate Carlos' life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the Chapel of Eternal Light at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Alan Kretschmar officiating. Entombment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in the Town of Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Chapel from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. A memorial fund has been established in Carlos' name.
